Converters

Convert lengths, weights, cooking measures, durations and data units. Choose the measurement you have and the unit you need.

Length converters

Convert distances, heights and ruler measurements.

Weight converters

Compare mass in metric and imperial units.

Cooking and volume converters

Convert liquid measures and estimated ingredient weights.

Time converters

Express a duration in seconds, days, weeks or years.

Temperature, torque and number converters

Compare temperature scales, torque units and number scales.

Data and internet speed converters

Compare file sizes and data-transfer rates.

How to pick the right calculator

  • Start with your unit: Check the source and destination units.
  • Match the standard: Match the liquid measurement standard to your recipe.
  • Check the ingredient: Use ingredient density when converting volume to weight.
  • Check data units: Distinguish bits from bytes for data speeds.

Frequently asked questions

Are unit conversion factors exact?

Many defined unit factors are exact, such as 2.54 centimetres per inch. Displays may be rounded. Ingredient densities and average year lengths involve assumptions, which are stated on the relevant tool.

Why can cups, pints and gallons give different results?

These units have more than one measurement standard. Select the standard that matches your source. A liquid measure is not automatically interchangeable with a dry measure.

Can I convert millilitres directly to grams?

Not without density. Millilitres measure volume and grams measure mass. The result depends on the ingredient and how it is measured or packed.
